In Wien war die Antrittsrede von Donald J. Trump vom 20.1.2017 zu hören. Kurze Zeit später in Amsterdam wurde die Rede des Populisten Geert Wilders ausgewählt. Zunächst in moderater Lautstärke. Alle Knöpfe auf der Rückseite der Box sind außer Funktion. Jede Taste der Fernbedienung erhöht die Lautstärke der Box. Lauter/leiser, on/off, Programm rauf/runter. Ob man für oder gegen ihn argumentiert, ihn kritisiert und so zum angefeindeten Establishment wird, ihn kleinredet oder ignoriert:
Er wird mit jedem Tastendruck lauter. Je mehr Beachtung man ihm schenkt, desto mehr Aufmerksamkeit bekommt er. Mitten unter uns. Ein lautstark, interaktives Zusammenspiel. Mit dem Ergebnis, dass ein Populist, genau wie im Zuge eines Wahlkampfes, Raum einnimmt.
Und es stellt sich die Frage: Wie gehen wir jetzt mit diesem (Laut-)Sprecher um?

The buttons on the remote control increase the volume of the speaker. Regardless which button of the remote control people press. Louder/quieter, on/off, program up/down … whether you argue for or against him, support or ignore him:
He is getting incredibly noisy. The more attention it requires to shut it off, the more attention it gets from all the others. In the midst of us. A loud, interactive interaction. With the result that a populist, just like in the course of an election campaign, gains power through all of us.
And the question arises: How do we now deal with this (loud) speaker which can´t be turned off?
All switches are locked. No possibility to switch off or silence the box.
Regardless which button people press, the voice of the populist gets louder.
